Eligibility
The Jamar Shaw Entrepreneur Scholarship Fund, in collaboration with LULAC Council 333, has been established to grant scholarship awards primarily to individuals who would like to enroll in a post-secondary course at Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC).
The scholarship fund considers education to be its number one priority to help students pursue their education and entrepreneurial aspirations.
The fund is a non-profit educational initiative aimed at providing educational programs and opportunities to minority youth across Wisconsin.
LULAC Council 333 is dedicated to advancing the educational opportunities of students. MATC is the local technical college in Milwaukee County.
TERMS
The Jamar Shaw Entrepreneur Scholarship Fund will award scholarships to qualified students who primarily are enrolled or are planning to enroll at MATC for the 2025-2026 academic-school year.
Scholarships may be used for the payment of tuition, academic fees, and the purchase of required educational materials & books. A student may not accept more than one of our scholarships in a given academic school-year.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the scholarship:
Live in Milwaukee County and must show proof of Milwaukee County address for the past 12 months.
Must belong to a minority group.
Undocumented students or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) students are encouraged to apply.
Must have applied and have been accepted to enroll as a full-time or part-time student at MATC.
A student will not receive this scholarship if he/she has received another Jamar Shaw Entrepreneur Scholarship or similar scholarship.
A student will not be eligible for a scholarship if he/she is related to a scholarship committee member.
AWARD
Applicants are eligible for a scholarship up to $2,500 for the 2026-2027 academic school year.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Applicants must email the following in order to be considered for a Jamar Shaw Entrepreneur Scholarship:
Completed and signed application form
Proof of enrollment in FALL college courses (transcripts)
A typed, personal essay in English no more than 300 words (Handwritten essays will not be accepted)
PDF file only (No Google shared documents will be accepted)

TIME SCHEDULE
Aug 18: Application due to the Jamar Shaw Entrepreneur Scholarship Fund by Sunday, August 3rd Midnight
Sept 3: Recipients notified of scholarship through email
Sept 17-20: Mandatory Attendance at the Awards Ceremony (TBA)
⮚ Incomplete applications will not be considered for a scholarship.
⮚ The Jamar Shaw Entrepreneur Scholarship Fund may require additional information and/or a personal interview.
⮚ Your attendance at the Awards Ceremony is mandatory. Failure to be present without notifying Annette Velez (veleza@matc.edu) could result in the revocation of the scholarship.
⮚ In-person applications will NOT be accepted at any MATC offices.
