Jamar Shaw Entrepreneur Scholarship Fund

Our lives, once filled with joy and hope, were turned upside. Nothing could have prepared us for June 7, 2023, the day we faced every parent's worst nightmare. Our one and only child, Jamar, was ripped from our lives far too soon by a senseless and heartbreaking act of violence.

As we honor Jamar's memory, we choose not only to mourn his loss but also to celebrate the incredible person he was. Jamar was more than just our son, he was a devoted father, a loyal friend, and a young man filled with passion, purpose, and ambition. His radiant smile, infectious laugh, and kind heart left an unforgettable mark on everyone he met.

While the pain of his absence is something we carry every day, we are determined not to let the story of his life end in tragedy. Instead, we choose to continue his legacy of perseverance and purpose.

Jamar had a dream to open his own business, a smoke shop he proudly named Smokey Pleasure.

He spent countless hours working on renovations and preparing to open the shop by the end of 2023. He was excited, focused, and full of hope for what was to come. That dream was cut short, but his spirit and determination live on.

To honor Jamar's life and the entrepreneurial path he worked so hard to build, we have created the Jamar Shaw Entrepreneur Scholarship Fund, in collaboration with LULAC Council 333 and MATC Scholarship Fund. This fund was established to support minority students across Wisconsin as they pursue higher education and entrepreneurial aspirations; goals that Jamar held close to his heart.

Through this scholarship, we aim to uplift and empower the next generation of dreamers, builders, and changemakers. In doing so, we allow Jamar's legacy to live on in every student who receives the opportunity to chase their own dreams.

In his memory, we pledge to be agents of peace, kindness, and purpose. We are committed to living lives rooted in compassion, and to helping create a safer, more supportive community for all.

Though Jamar's life was tragically cut short, his impact will endure through this fund, through the lives it touches, and through the love he gave so freely.

We miss Jamar every single day, but through this fund, his light continues to shine. Thank you for helping us carry it forward.
